1: The Re-introducening!

Hi. You could say it’s been a minute since any Doomsday Peppers info has been put out there, so I’d like to start over with our friends who’ve been here a while, and also say “hello” to those of you who recently started following us.

I’m Matt, and with my brothers (in law) Dante and Joaquin, we started Sibling Revelry Entertainment. So far, we’ve been very busy recording and producing our D&D podcast, Death by a Thousand Crits. It’s been a lot of fun but a lot of work, especially for Dante, the Project Lead and creator behind that whole thing. As the Project Lead for Doomsday Peppers, I’ve been quite busy myself, but since you haven’t yet been able to see the results of that work, I thought I’d share it with you by way of this digital medium. First of all, we’ve got a new web page for Doomsday Peppers, our first game under the banner of Sibling Revelry. You can find the site here: SiblingRevelryEntertainment.com/DoomsdayPeppers/. I’ll be posting on the blog there about every other week, talking about progress we’re making and giving you early peeks at the game as it comes together. Let’s get caught up!

In addition to the work on the podcast, we’ve been hard at work developing, revising, playtesting (and revising, and playtesting…) Doomsday Peppers, our first board game. Those of you who have been following us for a while are probably saying “Yeah. It was SUPPOSED to have been on Kickstarter in JUNE, then y’all went quiet.” We know. Sorry about that. Apparently, producing a podcast takes a LOT of time. Plus… there are day jobs. As I said earlier, Doomsday Peppers (or “DdP”) is our first game and let me tell you, we’re learning a lot!  One great learning experience was to attend Protospiel Online, back in January (Quick aside: For anyone looking to design a game, or if you just want to go playtest some fun game prototypes, I cannot recommend them enough! Check them out: Protospiel Online). We got loads of great feedback from some generous professionals, and decided it was time to overhaul DdP in order to make it the game we know it could be. Of course, the downside to that was that the development and playtesting would basically have to start over since it became an entirely different game (also, 99% of the artwork I had done for the game became obsolete). The good news? Well first, I learned my lesson. I’m resisting the urge to illustrate anything too much until later in the development process. It’s hard, but I’m trying. More importantly though, we’ve come out the other end of the process with a much better game! It’s now called “Doomsday Peppers: The Corrupting!” It’s faster paced, more streamlined, and more thematic than ever. It’s more immersive; instead of playing cards that feature survivors, you the players are the survivors! You will be residents of a little town called Scoville <pause for effect> AND… one player will turn against their neighbors! They will join the cult and obey the will of the Doomsday Peppers. Can you survive the Harvests, stop the Cultist, and save the world?

Here’s a quick look at the game in its current natural habitat, Tabletop Simulator, where we’ve been putting it through its paces and tightening the nuts and bolts:

I’m truly excited to share more with you in the future. And with this brief “re-introduction” to our game, I leave you with this: Hello, residents of Scoville! We’re glad you’re here. Stay tuned for more details on Doomsday Peppers: The Corrupting!
